Without a doubt – we are the biggest fans of compost. Not only because we save CO2 and return valuable nutrients to the cycle with environmentally friendly composting. No, because with compost we can also simply get the best out of our organic waste.
Speed up composting? Let nature work its magic.
You won't be able to speed up your composter. Good things take time. What can you speed up? The growth and performance of your plants in the garden or at home. If they are properly cared for, they will thrive faster.
What exactly was compost again?
Compost is a humus- and nutrient-rich rotting product made from organic waste. It is also a small miracle that nature performs. And it is really not that easy to replicate the process of composting. It is good that we have been researching it for a long time and soilkind will soon be preparing fresh compost for you - just like Mother Earth made it.
Compost is inherently very rich in nutrients. However, with a few selected goodies you can make your compost extra potent and speed up your composting experience.
What do we mean by compost accelerator?
Our process always takes 48 hours – but you can speed up the quality and effectiveness of your composter by adding more good waste from your kitchen. Here, a lettuce heart clearly beats a pizza crust.
A little tip, even though we know that you've already decided to do this: Please don't produce extra organic waste to improve your compost. We've put links to some suitable vegan recipes for you to use to prepare something delicious and useful and benefit from your waste in the kitchen. Perhaps you have some favorite recipes that you'd like to share with us?
And now, set the table for our Compost Superfoods:
-
Strawberry leaves
We can actually just eat the small, green crowns, but we usually don't. Your compost will be even happier because strawberry leaves contain vitamin C, iron and calcium as well as tannins.

Coffee grounds
A classic on the compost heap, a highlight in soilkind. You need it to wake up. It also gives soilkind a special kick: coffee grounds contain nitrogen, which supports the composting process. So, always add in the black gold.
-
Banana peels
Banana peels contain the nutrients calcium, magnesium, sulfur, phosphate, potassium and sodium and can also be preserved in compost. They are important for the healthy growth of flowering and fruiting plants and support the health of the soil.

And for extra bonus points: cut your organic waste into smaller pieces before adding it to your composter. This way soilkind has less work and your compost will be ready for use more quickly.
