THE MAGIC
BEHIND SOILKIND

An alliance between nature
& smart technology

Fresh compost in only 48 hours!
This is how nature and tech work together

NATURAL MICROORGANISMS

Natural components of every food are microorganisms. Such as bacteria and fungi.

They decompose the waste – and we use their superpowers in a smart new way.

ACCELERATED METABOLISM

Speed it up! The inside of soilkind is equipped with sensors and an intelligent control system, which accelerates the required metabolism needed. A combination of the perfect temperature, humidity, and aeration turn your food waste into a land of milk and honey for microorganisms. The result? soilkind is able to substantially reduce the composting time from several weeks to only 48 hours.

FULLY-AUTOMATIC PROCESSING

Clean, convenient, and safe: The automatic grinding, mixing, and transfer of biomass ensure that you have nothing to take care of – except your excitement about fresh compost.

soilkind combines high-quality components with smart design

BEGINNING

Space for everything! Easy to clean and just as easy to operate. Food scraps of up to 15 x 15 cm can simply be added.

2

GRINDING & DRYING

Collecting, grinding, and drying of kitchen waste.

New waste can be added at any time.

With a unique grinding mechanism, soilkind processes all kinds of kitchen waste - even small bones and nutshells. Thanks to a large capacity, soilkind can collect kitchen waste of 3 to 4 days.

COMPOSTING

Super silent and extra fast. As soon as enough food scraps have been added (10l), soilkind automatically transfers the pre-processed material into the composting chamber.

During the next 48h, all material converts into ready-to-use compost.

SENSORS

Every second on point. Various sensors measure and control temperature, humidity, and ventilation.

This way, soilkind guarantees optimal metabolic conditions for the microorganisms, and thus ensures the fastest possible composting.

HEAT EXCHANGING

Composting is a hot thing! soilkind extracts the heat generated during composting and reuses it to dry the waste.

A win-win situation, since it saves energy and dehumidifies the exhaust air.

WATER RESERVOIR

Water is a valuable resource. soilkind does not require any additional water, as organic waste by nature already consists largely of water.

During composting, water may remain. It is very rich in nutrients - you can use it to water your plants.

ODOR FILTERING

Ciao, stinky garbage! Our large filter and its unique vacuum technology release the exhaust air solely.

Special integrated active carbon efficiently removes all bad odors.

The thing about composting

STEP 1: REMINERALIZATION

Your organic waste is a bit like a fresh and full shopping bag. In order for your plants to use the nutrients, the "bag" must first be unpacked. This unpacking is called remineralization.

During the remineralization process, organic molecules are converted into inorganic minerals. This conversion is mainly done by omnipresent microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi, which are a natural part of our food.

STEP 2: COMPOSTING

During composting, the sugars, starch, proteins, fats, and at a later stage, cellulose is present in the waste that is broken down.

The compost quality can be influenced by providing optimal metabolic conditions for the microorganisms over a certain period of time. These conditions include temperature, pH value, moisture, amount of oxygen, and surface area. The better the conditions are met, the faster high-quality-compost is achieved.

Biowaste in landfills significantly damages our climate

overview_biowaste_in_landfills.jpg

Did you know that incorrectly disposed biowaste is more dangerous for the climate than CO2?

When organic waste is dumped in a landfill, it undergoes anaerobic decomposition (because of the lack of oxygen) and generates methane gas. Methane gas is a potent greenhouse gas – about 28 times more powerful than carbon dioxide at warming the Earth, on a 100-year timescale, and more than 80 times more powerful over 20 years.

Worldwide organic waste accounts for about 50% of the total amount of waste. Burying organic waste in landfills is a significant problem and it’s not just because of the resources we lose.

This is one of the reasons why we wanted to bring a change to your daily waste game. Make an eco-friendly difference with soilkind.
